A Letter to our Community, From the CEO

2025 Wrapped!

For Implicit Conversions, 2025 was the Year of the Pancake.

Our PS1 emulator hit the market with its first release - Fear Effect - during the summer; launching on Nintendo Switch, PS4/PS5, and PC in collaboration with Limited Run Games.

In October, we kollaborated with Digital Eclipse, producing the PS1 titles in the Mortal Kombat Legacy Kollection (MK Trilogy, Special Forces, and Mythologies: Sub Zero). Finally, in December, Milano’s OddJob Collection (Milano no Arubaito) was released on all modern platforms, including GOG,Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.

The Fighting Force Collection will be launching in early 2026 along with Fear Effect 2. And that’s just the start! We have another 12 titles in production - some already production complete - and can’t wait to share them with you.

Syrup leveled up with a bunch of new upgrades. This year we:

  • Upgraded the UI

    • Added support for localization (both in-game and in the UI)

  • Implemented video and audio playback

  • Added a bonus content gallery

  • Loaded a handful of CRT shaders

  • And introduced a game launcher for collections, like Fighting Force.

The Syrup SDK is further along and we are working with a few Alpha Testers to help them port their games (all NES). More on that in 2026!

Behind the scenes, we upgraded our autotesting system, affectionately named “Autotaste”. This system scans all of our games each night, looking for bugs, and then promptly notifies our engineers if something is amiss. As we scale up the number of games in production, this system becomes more and more important.

Looking Ahead

If 2025 was the Year of the Pancake, then 2026 will be the Year of the Waffle (to be fair, so will 2027!).

While we will still be doing work on Pancake and continue to produce PS1 games, our focus will shift to the future… and that’s Waffle, our PS2 emulator. The PlayStation 2’s back-catalog is arguably one of the best for any console, and we’re excited to ramp up production on this project so that more games can come back to the future. Erm, I mean “the present”.

We will continue to improve the SDK in Q1 2026, and one of the features we’ll explore is its integration into other game engines, like Unity.

On the RnD front, we’ll also continue to investigate “Benedict”, our PS3 emulator, and we will continue to look at adding more emulator cores if there’s enough demand.  We have a few things in the works, but they shall remain in secret, for now ;)

Be sure to check out our Roadmap for the latest and greatest updates.

To Our Community

Finally, special thanks to our amazing community. In just the last year, our Discord community has tripled in growth, and remains consistently active and engaged in discussions about game preservation and emulation, as well as your passionate feedback and requests for games. For a small server, we’ve seen some large output! In 2025 alone:

  • 1,179 members joined

  • 1,088 games were requested

  • A total of 50,675 votes for games were cast

  • The community sent 31,369 reactions

  • …on a whopping 91,454 messages!

In 2025 we rolled out our public roadmap, launched a section for patch notes, dropped a merch store for our most diehard fans, and built out a public-facing mirror of our Discord wishlist to help you find games to vote on more easily. We’re committed to building a vibrant and thriving community, and feel incredibly lucky with how great that one we have is so far.

Not only do you help us find bugs or share your favorite games with us, you inspire us. We share the same love for games as you, and we genuinely want you to be proud of the work we do. Thank you for being so awesome!

We’re tremendously excited for 2026 and look forward to sharing more with you!

— Bill
